Right after school started for us, we were so so lucky and excited to have our Burke cousins come down and visit us for a weekend! Our pool was just finished (not the landscaping part yet, but there is water and that's the fun part!) so Uncle Matt, Auntie Dina, Ryan, John and Danny got to be the first of our extended family to do cannonballs in the pool with us! We also took them to Carowinds to show them our favorite rides and waterslides there. Then later in the weekend, all of the big boys went to the city to watch a college championship football game in Panthers Stadium. It was a whirlwind fun weekend and we live spending fun times with them. Come back soon!!

Back to School 2021/2022
New school year and for the first time in 6 years for the Burke kids.... a new school for one of them!! Kaitlyn started middle school this year (YIKES!!! for this mama!).... and she killed it. I was a nervous wreck for her all summer long- even though I did my very best to hide it and tried to make it seem as exciting as ever for her. And even though in years past, she has been our shy one, she walked into school on day one like she owned the place and just rocked it. I was and am so very proud of her. And even today, on day 106 (yes, I'm a bit behind on these posts- what's new?!), she is just as strong as ever and still enjoying it- which is the important part, right? I'm over the moon for her. And I should also mention- A/B honor roll... ahem!
And Mikey, our G/T (gifted and talented program) student is also excelling as usual. His teacher this year is, of course, phenomenal. Mrs. Thomas pushes him and is preparing him for middle school next year (Agghhh!!). When I asked Mikey if he was excited to have the elementary school all to himself without his sister, he looked at me surprised. 'No??, why would I?' he replied to me. 'I'm so sad and I'm going to miss her!'. If you're not in the area, the two schools are side by side and literally sit on the same property. Sometimes classes even see each other during outside times. Oh, silly Mikey!!
Some Random Summer Fun
Since we only had a short summer, and we were also a little consumed with a family project happening here at home which kept us a little home- bound at times, we did our best to have a little fun here and there this summer. Here are some of those adventures:
