Christmas #2

Ok, before January is over, I must finish telling you about our Christmas #2 in Boston! This has become a tradition for our family that we love, of course. It's great because the kids get to spend Christmas Eve in their own beds and see that Santa has visited our home, but after all of the excitement has died down, we jump in the car and head to Mimi and Papi's house for even more fun! We normally get a hotel halfway on the way there and back so the kids love that too.

We got to Mimi and Papi's house and the kids were so so excited. Of course, there were presents to be opened that evening. Kaitlyn was given a real 'American Girl' doll. She named her 'Alyssa' and was so happy. Mikey received an entire patriots uniform including a helmet and shoulder pads. He was one happy boy!!!!
Then all of the cousins came over for fun- Ryan, John, Danny, uncle Matt and auntie Dina all came for some fun!

Playing with Uncle Kevin (A. D. A. Uncle Kevin, that is!!)

Uncle Kevin got Mikey some super cool spiderman Legos

Kaitlyn and kelsie got matching 'my little pony' hair!!

The next day, we played with some of our fun, new toys and Kaitlyn and Mikey helped Mimi make their absolute favorite- spaghetti and meatballs!! Aunt Winnie came over to visit (the kids call her their 'other grandmother'!). Ryan, John and Danny came over and we all opened even MORE presents! My goodness!!!

He didn't even make it to dinner!

The next day we had fun hanging out at the house with kelsie. The kids loved playing with Papi!

Then we went to visit Ryan and John at their house. We even stayed the night. We played fun games and the kids all shared the bunkbeds at night!

The kids even got to help uncle Matt and daddy take down a wall!!!

This girl LOVED playing with her cousin Danny

And then, before you knew it, it was over and time to come home. But, not before some fun swimming in the hotel pool on the drive. See you in Disney Burke family!!

Polar Express!

The elves brought us tickets to ride the Polar Express and even new jammies and slippers to wear! To say the kids were excited would be a bit of an understatement. We sang carols and watched Christmas movies on our 3 hour drive to the mountains and then took a little walk around Bryson City before we boarded the train! We had such fun seats and the kids got goody bags to dive into while we started the ride. Then the wait staff brought us delicious mugs of hot cocoa topped with the most yummy whipped cream- along with the fun 'hot chocolate' dance!! Then the waiters read the book 'The Polar Express' to us and then the car went dark- the kids were in awe as we travelled to the North Pole where we saw Santa's house and even the hobo sitting on top of a train! The next thing we knew- Santa had boarded the train and he came around to everyone and gave us our own bells! It was such a fun night. Mikey kept repeating over and over on the way home 'was that the most fun night??!' I'm so glad we were able to do this with the kids.

Leave it to Mom to ruin a perfectly wonderful family photo!!

And for 20 minutes STRAIGHT on the way home, Kaitlyn sang 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town':

'You'd better watch out, you'd better not cry
you'd better not pout, I'm telling you why
Santa Clause is coming to town
He sees you when you're sleeping,
He knows when you're awake,
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake Oh--
REPEAT (about 348 times)!!'
