Color Run!

Have I mentioned lately how proud I am of my kids? Well, let me toot their horn again and pretty darn loudly if I may. I signed the three of us up for a 5K run not really knowing how they'd do or like it and well- they knocked my socks off and we had a blast! Here are some pics of Color Run 2016 and we are looking forward to 2017!!

Mikey has Spirit Too!!!

I love that Mikey's school also participates in it's own 'Spirit Week'. He really loves taking part. This week was no exception!
Monday: crazy hair day-

Blue hair along with a crab- I'd say pretty crazy!
Tuesday: sports day-

Tom Brady- check

Wednesday: Disney character day- not so easy for a boy, but ok, we got this-

Mikey and all of the girls!
These were taken later at school *he he*

Thursday: Tacky Tourist Day- wait, what? um, ok-

Friday- Pajama day (THANK YOU!)-

And, there you have it! A week in the life of Spirit Week for Mikey!!

First trip to Carowinds this Season!

Here we go!!! We're ready to wear these season passes out and let the fun begin!

Mikey in North Carolina and Kaitlyn in South Carolina!

Kaitlyn is riding a big roller coaster-- all by herself!!!!

Gymnastics Competition

Both of the kids were able to compete in a class competition at the gym where they take gymnastics. They both had a great time and did really well. Kaitlyn competed last year so she knew what to expect. Mikey did not and not only that- he was the only boy in his class to compete, so he was moved up the next level with a new coach and with a new group of boys he had never met.  He was so excited to be with 'Coach Alex' and the big boys!! He loved it. And as a special treat, both of his teachers from his preschool came to watch him- how cool was that?? They both took time out of their Saturday to come watch a 5 year old sit in a sweaty, stinky gym that was overcrowded with parents just to watch Mikey goof off on the mat for most of the time and play with his new friends! I really appreciate that we have people like that in our children's lives (and I could kick myself for not having gotten a photo of them with him!!). Mikey did an amazing job at the meet especially considering he has never practiced (or even attempted) some of the skills before. He won 5... count them... 5 GOLD medals! Granted, he was the only boy in his age group, but hey! Stand proud, my boy! Kaitlyn also did amazing. She has been practicing hard for weeks on all of her routines. She improved from last year and she placed in 4th and 5th place in every group! I'm so proud of her and all of her hard work. Love these kids!

Greenway Field Trip

Kaitlyn and I got to experience another amazing field trip either her kindergarten class to the Greenway. This time to discover more nature and talk about life cycles. I am just amazed about how awesome these 5 and 6 year olds are where they walked over six- count them- six miles over gorgeous greenway and just how lucky we are to be able to attend this school located on the greenway to be able to do this several times a year.
We started the morning walking over fields saying good morning to the milking cows and some horses, next to the pond, and over a swinging bridge over a rolling creek. We met our park guides who then led us on a hike to show us some of the animals and trees that live in the greenway. We learned so much! The kids hiked all the way around the lake and then we got to change into water shoes and we got to get into the creek to search for dragonfly larva and other fun things! Kaitlyn was a champ and found a lot- mama stayed dry.... And warm!! Then we had a nice picnic lunch and then hiked back to the school. Such a fun day!!!
