Christmas Day- Santa CAME!!

Ok, can I just reiterate how amazing these kids are?
I woke up early and crept downstairs to make a cup of coffee, get breakfast in the oven and blog a bit before the chaos began. I waited, and waited and waited! My sleepy babies slept until after 8:00. Then, instead of running downstairs, they played quietly with each other in the bedroom. I swear, I think they FORGOT it was Christmas morning! Mike ended up going into the room and reminded them that it might be fun to come downstairs---- well, then it was ON for Mikey! He had take off his pajama shirt and Mike told him to put it back on but he was running down the stairs so fast, it was just hanging around his neck! It was so funny. Needless to say, the kids loved Christmas morning and all of the fun goodies Santa brought. Merry Christmas everyone!

Sorry for the interruption

Ok- I know I haven't posted about Christmas yet or our wonderful trip to Boston for Christmas #2, but if you will please humor me and allow me to share one quick moment so I don't forget it and leave it out.
On our drive up and back we stayed at a hotel. The kids slept together (as usual) on a pullout and we slept next to them in the bed. On the way home, the kids swam in the hotel pool and wore themselves out after sitting still in a car all day and were ready for a good night sleep. Well, in the middle of the night, I heard Mikey start to cry in his sleep. It got louder and louder and I had just put my feet on the floor to go get him when I heard Kaitlyn. She was hugging him and stroking his hair saying 'it's ok Mikey, it's ok. I love you buddy, it's ok'. They both drifted right back to sleep.
I just can't get over how lucky I am to have these two angels in my life and to witness the love they share every day.

Christmas Eve

I can't believe it's already here. This month/ holiday season has just FLOWN by--- but we do have a trip to MA to look forward to, so bring on the extra Christmases!
We went to a 'secret' mass at our church at 2:00. The kids were adorable and I love that Father John calls all of the children up during the mass to talk to them about the meaning of Christmas. Of course Mikey had his hand raised the entire time and I was cringing-- but thankfully, Father John knew it would probably not be appropriate to call on the ginger boy in the back! Mikey would not go away without being heard though- when all of the children were dismissed, there he was, tugging at Father John's robes to tell him that SANTA WAS COMING TONIGHT!!!! Oh, my dear boy. After mass, we went to a neighbors house for Christmas Eve dinner (Janet and Jerry Gaglione) and the kids experienced their first game of secret santa. They loved it and Kaitlyn walked away with a tin of pepperment bark (which she is calling her 'treasure') and Mikey a dinosaur fossil kit. Then it was straight home to open their gifts to each other. Of course- Mikey had already given Kaitlyn her gifts as soon as he came home from the store because he can't keep a secret or surprise. Then again, he is only 4! He wrapped them anyway and had them under the tree for Kate and she loved opening the toy mixer and iron. Mikey had also already opened his gift from Kaitlyn during our 'Friendsmas' celebration but I had made him put it back under the tree to wait for this evening. I'm a horrible mom as he had to look at 6 extra large action figures just standing under the tree waiting of him to play with them- including Batman!!! What a trooper though and he was so excited to finally open the box. Then off to bed (with their new toys of course) to try to fall asleep while waiting for Santa! Can't wait to see your faces in the morning my babies!
